Good News! Based on your results, it looks like you do not suffer from adrenal fatigue.
Even though your online test came up negative, you may want to visit your physician and have the proper tests done.
Cortisol, which is an adrenal hormone, is the stress hormone that evolved from our ‘fight or flight’ response and is released in response to both physical and mental stress.
This is a very good short term response yet becomes dysfunctional and dysregulated with chronic stress.
When cortisol is too low, symptoms include fatigue, weakness, low blood sugars, low blood pressure, and poor sleep. Responses to new stressors are overwhelming and coping mechanisms are not optimal.
When cortisol is too high (it can increase with age) it can lead to weight gain, insomnia, anxiety, weakness, insulin resistance, weakness of the immune system and osteoporosis. Less commonly seen are cortisol deficiencies; too little cortisol can cause fatigue, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, and insomnia.
To maintain your adrenal function:
- Avoid eating large meals right before bedtime
- Eat a healthy breakfast within an hour of getting out of bed
- Use healthy snacks containing protein to stabilize blood sugar
- Find time for moderate exercise every day
- Choose organic whole foods and avoid processed, sugary snacks
- Listen to your body’s cravings for salt – if you want it you probably need it
- Frequently assess and change your lifestyle to reduce stress
We are also offering our digital Adrenal Reboot eCourse absolutely FREE!
