Mycotoxins Report Walkthrough

In this video, clinical lab educator Graeme McGinnis from Vibrant Wellness provides a comprehensive walkthrough of the Mycotoxins section of your Total Tox report. Mycotoxins are toxic compounds produced by mold that can enter the body through food or environmental exposure—especially in buildings with moisture or water damage.

You’ll learn how to interpret the Summary Page of your report, which flags high (red) and moderate (yellow) levels of mold-related toxins. The video explains how Vibrant’s advanced mass spectrometry technology can detect over 33 different species of mold-derived mycotoxins, even at very low concentrations, using a simple urine sample.

Graeme walks through the key toxin categories:

  • Aflatoxins from mold-contaminated food (e.g., nuts, grains, spices)
  • Other mycotoxins like ochratoxin A, gliotoxin, and citrinin, which can affect the kidneys, liver, and nervous system
  • Trichothecenes, a family of highly toxic molds commonly found on water-damaged materials (e.g., drywall, fiberboard)

The video also introduces Vibrant’s Mycotoxin Interpretation Guide, which is available to help practitioners and patients understand the sources of exposure, associated symptoms (such as fatigue, dizziness, rashes, or neuroinflammation), and clinical next steps.

If your results show elevations, this video will help you begin identifying mold-related exposures in your food or environment—and lay the foundation for detox strategies using binders, gut support, and follow-up testing when appropriate.
